Christmas in London

It took some time for me to find Christmas spirit  outside the wintery Finland where snow, candles, cinnamon scents and cold but crisp weather are enough to create a festive atmosphere. In other countries like England where greyness and rain dominate December, one must try harder.

In London the effort to create a perfect Christmas spirit is definitely taken seriously. Christmas markets, Christmas lights, carols, concerts, Winter Wonderlands, ice rinks, Christmas trees and, this year for the first time, illuminated forest walks. It is hard not to notice that Christmas is coming.

Even though it’s not the same as my childhood Christmas times, I’ve still grown to love Christmas in London. See below my best pictures of London in December 2014.

  1. Wonderful pics Kristiina! I LOVED the Covent Garden decorations last year, they were so fab. And this has made me very sad that I didn’t get to Columbia Road or Kew Gardens – I had no idea about the night walks, what a fun idea. Oh well, there’s always next year…

    1. Thank you Elly!! I would be very surprised if the night walks didn’t repeat themselves this year too. They were a big success and a wonderful way to enjoy London’s parks even during the long dark winter. Columbia Road is fantastic at any time of the year though! 🙂
